The Efforts of the Fund

The Bols Xmas Tree Fund initiates various projects on a regular basis, contributing to local development and welfare in the Ambrolauri-Tlugi region in Georgia, the poorest country in Europe.

The Fund provides grants to finance appropriate safety equipment of the highest quality and labour insurance to each of the Georgian cone pickers. Furthermore, the Fund makes grants available to support improvement of three local schools attended by a total of some 600 pupils. Moreover, the travelling clinics in Ambrolauri-Tlugi make medical and dental care available.

Income for the work of the Fund is derived primarily from the sale of seed. 75 Danish kroner per kilo of seed sold goes to the Fund, along with a percentage from the sale of trees and candles with Fair Trees labels – here, each label brings in a donation of 5 Danish kroner. Link: Donations .

“Fair trade is one of the best ways to bring about development. If you can drink Fair Trade coffee, why not delight in a Fair Trade Christmas tree?”

Lars Kolind, chairman of the board, estate owner
